Town of Newport Public Works Department
Yard Debris Starting December 1st 2008, the Town of Newport Public Works Department will begin picking up yard debris on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the Month. To request a yard debris pick up during weeks with no scheduled pick up, please call Public Works at 223-3902 before 3:00pm on Tuesday.This is a service that is provided to residents at no additional charge. Please remember that there are a few guidelines that we ask you to follow so that we can more effectively serve you and your neighbors. If you have questions about storm debris removal please go here. These guidelines are as follows. ü
No
household garbage, construction debris, landscape timbers, or furniture. If it
doesn’t grow, it doesn’t go. ü
Small
amounts of 1 or 2 household appliances will be picked up as needed. Please
notify the Newport Public Works Dept if you should need these appliances removed
from your yard. ü Leaves, pine straw, grass, trimmings, and small branches should be placed in bags. ü
Please
notify the Newport Public Works Dept of hazardous materials such as poison ivy
that may be in your piles. ü
Small
limbs should be cut up into 4-foot lengths and placed parallel to the street. ü
The Town
will not be responsible for either home or landscape contractor’s debris. If
they are paid to do the job they will be required to haul away their own
debris. ü
During
adverse weather such as rain some yard debris may be picked up on Tuesday with
another quick pick up on Wednesday. Yard debris will also be picked up on the
day prior or the day after a holiday if it should fall on a Wednesday. ü
Please
