Water and Sewer

The Town provides water and sewer for all properties within the corporate limits. And some residents out side the city limits receive water only. The source of our town water is from deep wells into the 'Castle Hayne' aquifer.

The Waste Water Treatment Plant has a current capacity of 600,000 gallons per day. It is currently under construction to enlarge the capacity to 750,000 gallons per day.
The treated water is discharged into the Newport River.

Any and all inquiries by builders and developers should be addressed directly to the Planning Department.

Note to Homeowner or Property Owner : If you have a sewer line stopped up, it is the owner's responsibility to clear the line from the building all the way to the town's main sewer line even if the sewer 'lateral' on town property is stopped up.
It is the town's responsibility to keep the main line clear. If it is determined that the sewer lateral is broken, then the town will repair the lateral.
